Harold Melvin & the Blue Notes represented the sound of Philadelphia Soul along with bands such as the The O`Jays and The Spinners. It was a sound that was much loved in the 1970s by a mass audience. Harold Melvin & the Blue Notes had many big-time hits, especially in the early part of the decade. Songs like “The Love I lost,” “Bad Luck,” and “If You Don’t Know Me By Now,” were huge hits on the Billboard top 100. Howard Melvin & the Blue Notes also served as the launching pad for the career of legendary singer Teddy Pendergrass.
