Leo's Sunshipp was supposed to be the next big thing; a soulful, jazzy, disco funk supergroup formed by ex-Marvin Gaye backup singers. The sound is a mash up of mid 70s smoothed out soul and gooey jazz funk a la Roy Ayers. Vocalist and songwriter Johnny Simone tragically passed just four tracks into this debut. After much hesitation from bandmates, the album was eventually released with bonus instrumental versions filling in the gaps for a releasable LP.
